Fan of the day: Pierpaolo Tieri

– Music is a universal language, that must be used to unite us, says Pierpaolo Tieri. We couldn’t agree more. Also, we love getting to know all the different fans so we wanted to share them with you, so please welcome Pierpaolo:

– Name, age, occupation, where are you from?

– Hi Eurovision fans, I’m Pierpaolo Tieri, I’m 23 years old and I come from Atessa, Chieti, Abruzzi, Italy and I’m unemployed. I have been blind since birth. I use a vocal synthesizer that allows me to hear what’s written on the screen, except for the images and photos.

– Why do you love Eurovision?

– I love Eurovision because I love the competition between all the countries and I love all genres of music.

– Tell us about a favorite memory related to Eurovision

– A favourite memory about the Eurovision is that Vincenzo Cantiello won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 and I was happy because it’s the first time that Italy won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

– Did you meet any Eurovision artists? Who was your favorite encounter and why?

– I haven’t met any Eurovision artist.

– And what Eurovision artist would you invite for dinner if you got to choose freely?

– I would like to invite Emma Marrone, Bojana Stamenov, Samra, Sergey Lazarev, all the Italian artists from 2008 to present, Jamala, Ruslana and Dami Im for dinner.

– What is your favorite entry ever?

– My favourite entry was Emma Marrone’s song “La mia città“.

– What is your favorite entry this year?

– This year I love Francesco Gabbani’s “Occidentali’s Karma” because the song is original and he will probably win this Eurovision.

– What is the ultimate fan behavior?

– I’ve never done something crazy for an artist because, since I’m blind, I follow the artists only for their music and I can’t meet them.

– If Eurovision suddenly decided politics were allowed, what would be your first political statement?

– If I was a politician, I would say that we must build bridges, not walls. In spite of the competition, this must be the goal of Eurovision. Music is a universal language, that must be used to join us.

– Are you going to Kyiv or do you have other plans for the final? What are your expectations?

– I won’t go to Kiev this year, but I will listen to the Eurovision song contest on Radio 2, an Italian radio that broadcasts it. According to me, Italy will win because the bookmakers say it’s tipped to win. Besides, the song is very catchy. I believe this year we’ll finally win because Italy haven’t won since 1990, when Toto Cutugno won the festival.
