Fan of the day: Alessandro Banti

There are more Italians on our radar when the best fans in Eurovision are to be presented. This year is Alessandro Banti’s 10th Eurovision live and we’ll be happy to see him in Kyiv. Won’t we also be happy for this guy to see his fellow country man Francesco win on the big stage?

Name, age, occupation, where are you from?

Alessandro Banti, 50 next July, journalist and office worker for a telephone company, born and live in Pisa (Italy)

Why do you love Eurovision?

I love Eurovision because since my childhood I’ve always been interested in different countries and different languages

Tell us about a favorite memory related to Eurovision (Bring it on, the dirtier, the better)!

I have so many memories, my first was A Ba Ni Bi in 1978 that I sang with my sister, then in 1984 when I heard all the Eurovision Song Contest by radio because I was out in an hotel room without TV, a special memory is my all time favourite Ne partez pas san moi in 1988, only few days after my father’s death, then my first Eurovision live in 2004 in a wonderful city like Istanbul or the excitement for the comeback of my country in 2011 in Duesseldorff

Did you meet any Eurovision artists? Who was your favorite encounter and why?

I met many Eurovision artist in the last years, all of them gave me special emotions, with some of them I’m still in touch, I won’t say any name so as not to hurt anyone

And what Eurovision artist would you invite for dinner if you got to choose freely?

I’d like to have a dinner with Tom Neuwirth/Conchita Wurst

What is your favorite entry ever?

My favourite ever is Celine Dion’s “Ne partez pas sans moi“, as I already said, but in recent years I’d say “Quedate conmigo” by Pastora Soler

What is your favorite entry this year?

This year, well… I like very much the entry from my country (“Occidentali’s Karma“) but the one that I’m hearing most these days is Ireland’s “Dying to try”

What is the ultimate fan behavior?

Like every year in this period fans are excited to know all the songs and they are looking forward to share their passion

If Eurovision suddenly decided politics were allowed, what would be your first political statement?

“Everyone has the right to be happy”

Are you going to Kyiv or do you have other plans for the final? What are your expectations?

I will be in Kiev, it will be my 10th Eurovision live, I’m looking forward to be there to meet friends and have fun and.. finger crossed
